The Dos and Don'ts in the Growing Busienss article are short and to the point. The same key points are repeated so by the end you get it.

IMHO not enough people confront the Exit issue. Even worse than wills, people just don't think about it. Not very clever.

Intersting approach. Nothing revolutionary but good commeon sense.

Too few people think about the Exit strategy and how they are going to get there. And what to do when they get there.

Am re-reading "Rework" by the founders of 37Sginals.

Prefer their view: you don't need an exit strategy, you need a COMMITMENT strategy.

Amen to that ;-)

Had a look at Small Giants, but it didn't really impress me, to be honest. Even found it a bit boring, focusing on "small" USA businesses and higgledy-piggledy written.

What I enjoyed was the general thrust of the book - that businesses do not have to sell out.

The two articles are identical (IOD one from my website circa 1996 http://www.robert-craven.co.uk/article-business-exit-strategy-options.php
and the one in Better Business magazine..
Mine was written by myself.

Have contacted the magazine three times but no reply.

Not quite clear here, Robert

You ran a series of workshops for Barclays "Let's Talk... Exit Strategies" You used your article and based the whole workshop on your materials.

So, are they your materials or the work of this Colin Thompson?

I have seen the Better Business article and it is the same as your workshop notes, slides and accompanying article but that was back in 2005/6

The facts:

All the material referred to was written by me and not by Colin Thompson.

The article in Better Business magazine is attributed to him by the magazine.

It also appears in one of his ebooks and in one of his newsletters. It was written by me in 2006.
